Healthy Photo Practices

  • RTFM that came with your gear!
  • Full the frame with what YOU love.
  • Shoot as often as you can. The more you use your camera, the more familiar it will be to you.
  • Be ready to shoot and capture the action. You can text, Facebook, Instagram and or check your email later.
  • See the image before you shoot.
  • Check your setting!
  • Check your setting again!
  • Shoot the light, not your subject!
  • Shoot the images you want to shoot.
  • When you have a great subject and wonderful light, use all your bag of tricks. Once you used up your bag of trick, keep shooting until the light dies or your subject leaves.
  • Take care of your gears, no one else will.
  • Backup your files in at least 3 different places.
  • Learn exposure! Get the image right in the camera.
  • Learn how to use your post processing software properly.
  • Seek out others photographer that are shooting the same things you are and talk to them.
  • Learn from your mistakes!
  • Get out of YOUR comfort zone.
  • Never use automatic!
  • Know the limits of YOUR gear!
  • Camera, lenses, tripods, any other photographic gear does not make images, Photographer work hard to make them.
  • Check the weather before you go out shooting.
  • Be willing to learn something new from someone else.
